On Friday, the Cairo governor Khaled Abdel Aal directed the closure of all entertainment places, parks, tourist villages, and all the public facilities due to the coronavirus novel, according to domestic reports.

As Egypt faces the third wave of the coronavirus outbreak, the people of Cairo will be forced to celebrate Easter and ‘Sham El-Nesim’ (Inhaling the breeze) on Monday within their homes amid the closure of public gardens, cafes, entertainment places, and shopping malls.

However, this year, things will of course be quite a bit different as Egypt and the rest of the world navigate the restrictions that have been put into place to limit the spread of coronavirus.

It’s worth mentioning that Egyptians celebrate Sham El-Nessim as one of the oldest annual occasions after Easter Sunday.

Notably, Sham El-Nessim comes on Monday 3rd May and it will also be a public holiday next week.
